Ah, the Summer Outdoor Music Season Begins!

You know, summer is always a great time for the arts, and music especially. Given the increase in venues for outdoor music throughout Eau Claire and beyond, its nice to relax on the grass, watch the sun go down and the lights go up and dance. Seeing how we Wisconsinites have what, three months tops to really enjoy ourselves outside, its tradition to cram as much fun as possible into enjoying the great outdoors before we have to shutter ourselves back up. That's why if you love local music, you'll love the Chippewa Valley this season.

On tap for the summer is the annual Sounds Like Summer Concert Series, hosted by the EC culture 'zine Volume One, at the Labyrinth in beautiful Phoenix Park along the river. The series begins June 4th at 6:30pm with the Eau Claire Blues All Stars and Little Willie, and runs every Thursday evening throughout the summer with plenty of the best musical acts around.

New for this season, and inspired by the SLSCS is Tuesday Blues in Owen Park, a weekly infusion of some of the area's best blues bands, hosted by the Chippewa Valley Blues Society. The Blues series begins May 26th at 6:30pm at the bandshell with regionally famous and internationally known Howard "Guitar" Luedtke.

I'll post subsequent acts closer to their play times for these two brilliant events. Come join us!
